Tomás Marco

Tomás Marco (1942) is a composer and violinist born in Madrid. He holds an honorary doctorate from the Complutense University and serves as the director of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando. Additionally, he has been awarded the National Music Prize in 2002 and the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 2014. In 2016, he received the Ibero-American Music Prize Tomás Luis de Victoria.

Marco has served as a professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music and as director of the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music. Throughout his career, he has composed seven operas, one ballet, and ten symphonies.
