2024 Edition | About Us

Each year, the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda organizes Annual Colloquium on Music & Philosophy, an event that explores themes connecting philosophical questions with their influence on the vast realm of music.

The Colloquium on Music & Philosophy is organized by the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda in collaboration with the International Ontology Congress. This Encounter offers a space for reflection on the deep and immutable structure of music, the evolution of its laws, its links to other disciplines, and its relation to various aspects of human activity.

In this way, the Colloquium on Music & Philosophy seeks to foster reflection on music’s profound and unchanging structure, the development of its more contingent laws, its connections with formalized disciplines, and other facets of human activity. Each year, it proposes topics that explore the intersection between philosophical inquiry and its impact on the world of music.

These sessions, held in July, bring together distinguished professors, philosophers, researchers, scholars, performers, and music creators.
